Information is the lifeblood of a sound system of financial management. A good Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS) should provide decision makers and public sector managers with a set of tools to help them in their functioning. Leveraging on information systems to aid in public finance is viewed as an effective method in bringing about transparency and accountability and achieving better governance by efficiency in the use of scarce public funds for the benefit of citizens.
Public Financial Management has come under immense scrutiny in a call for enhanced accountability of the government process for an improved public service delivery. The Project implements an Integrated Financial Management Information System in a phased manner with extensive handholding.
